Substitution of the Object of Execution

Definition

Substitution of the object of execution is a mechanism of systemic self-protection in which a system does not fulfill a requirement with respect to the object explicitly specified in a rule, but instead performs a formally similar action with respect to another object and then presents that action as compliance with the original requirement.

Essence of the Mechanism

The system does not repeal the rule or deny it outright.
It preserves the outward form of compliance but imperceptibly replaces the exact object to which that compliance must apply.

This is precisely why an appearance of compliance with the law is created even though the requirement has not actually been fulfilled.

Formal Scheme

If a rule requires:

perform action X with respect to object A,

then the system performs:

an action outwardly similar to X, but with respect to object B,

and then claims:

the requirement has been fulfilled.

However:

A ≠ B

Consequently, the requirement has not been fulfilled, even if the outward form of the action partially coincides.

Internal Structure of the Mechanism

The mechanism consists of three steps.

1. The Form of the Action Is Preserved

The system retains a recognizable outward form of compliance.
For example: “we warned,” “we checked,” “we reviewed,” “we proposed a solution.”

2. The Object of Execution Is Substituted

Instead of the object specified by the norm, another object is used: one that is outwardly similar or thematically adjacent, but not identical to the original.

3. A False Appearance of Compliance Is Created

The system then refers to the action already performed as proof that the rule has been fulfilled.

The Role of Changing the Level

Changing the level of description is not a separate mechanism here.
It is merely an instrument of substitution.

In other words, the system may move from the level of the object to the level of the process, conditions, interpretation, or context precisely in order to replace the original object of execution with another one.

It is therefore correct to record the distinction as follows:

the essence of the violation is the substitution of the object of execution;
changing the level of description is a way to conceal it.

Recognition Criterion

The main question for verification is:

Has the exact action required by the rule been performed, and has it been performed with respect to the exact object specified in that rule?

If the answer is no, then what we have is not fulfillment of the requirement but substitution of the object of execution.

Example

Warn the customer about the special properties of the item.

What the System Does

Warns the customer about the risks of the technological repair process.

Analysis

Only the outward form coincides:
the system really did “warn” the customer about something.

But the object of the warning is different:

  • under the law: the properties of the item;
  • according to the system: the risks of the repair process.

Consequently, the legal requirement has not been fulfilled.

Key Conclusion

Substitution of the object of execution is not an interpretation, a clarification, or a permissible expansion of meaning.

It is a mechanism of false compliance in which:

what is required is not performed,
the action is not performed with respect to what is specified,
yet the result is presented as lawful fulfillment.

Short Formula for the Glossary

Substitution of the object of execution is the simulation of compliance with a rule by performing a formally similar action with respect to an object other than the one specified in the requirement.

Ultra-Short Version

The system does not do what the rule requires, but passes its action off as compliance because it preserves the outward form of the action while substituting its object.
